Balikpapan Botanical Garden Tour
Balikpapan Botanical Garden was established in 2015 as a response to the diminishing forest ecosystem in the East Kalimantan area. This garden serves several functions:
- Ex-situ conservations: protecting endangered species outside of their habitat as a reserve for biodiversity and ecosystem restoration
- Research: facilitate research activities in the field of botany, conservation, agriculture, and functional properties of plants
- Education: improve education on conservation, biodiversity, and environment of the general public through visitations
- Sustainable tourism
- Environmental protection: improving quality of water, biodiversity, landscape, and carbon sequestration
